Irving, a member of some of the most vaunted defenses in program history during the late 1980s, was a three-time All-WVIAC Second Team performer—1987-89. He earned All-American Honorable Mention honors during the 1989 season. The Mountain Lions won three conference championships during Irving's time in the CU secondary, 1987, 1989, 1990. From 1987-90, Irving and Concord posted a record of 30-9-2. And with Irving at safety in 1987, Concord led the WVIAC by allowing just 82 passing yards per game. With Irving's upcoming induction into the Concord Hall of Fame, he joins six of his teammates, including secondary mates Tracy Gravely and Rob Majors, in the CU Athletics Hall of Fame.
