LAST TIME OUT
For many, Saturday will be the first competition of the season after December's only meet at Liberty was limited due to inclement weather, forcing the track & field teams to not be able to travel for the bulk of competition.

However, junior Braden Ward won the 5,000-meter run at Liberty in early December with a time of 15:15.03. Sophomore Brandon Canaday was two spots back in a time of 15:31.09. Junior Bramley Childress clocked 15:32 to place fourth, and sophomore Reese Hickey ran 15:35.66 in fifth. Freshman Johnny Walkup made his collegiate track debut in the 5,000-meters with a showing of 16:28.03, good enough for 12th. Sophomore Dallas Ford jumped 6.11 meters in the long jump while junior Shawn Bennett tossed 11.90 meters in the weight throw.

The only female to compete at Liberty was sophomore Cassidy Hammonds in the pentathlon. She scored 2,918 points to finish eighth. In the five-event sequence, Hammonds had a personal-best mark in the shot put (8.22 meters/414 points). Her best scores came in the 60-meter hurdles (773 points/9.68 seconds) and 800-meter run (639 points/2:34.40).

MARSHALL ALUMNI INVITE ENTIRES
The middle distance and distance events highlight the program for the Mountain Lion men. Ward leads a group of five athletes into the mile run. Ward (4:22) and Hickey (4:25) are ranked in the top 10 in the pre-meet performance list. Junior Wes Holcomb, freshman Zach Neal and junior AJ Skeens join Ward and Hickey in the event. Hickey, Skeens and Ward will double up in the 3,000-meter run as they take to the track with Canaday and Childress. In the 200-meter dash, redshirt freshman Dom Collins makes his track debut for Concord along with junior Ryan Covington and freshmen Myles Gurnee and William Jackson. The men's shot put will feature sophomore Tobi Adebulu, Bennett, freshman Isaac Treadway and sophomore Marquise Walker.

Like the CU men, the middle distance events are of focus this weekend. In the 800-meters, freshman Violet Wall (2:18) and Hammonds (2:20.76) both have seed times inside the top 10. Also in the 800-meters will be sophomore Megan Canterbury, freshman Molly Jones, freshman Avery Lilly, junior Charlotte McGinnis and freshman Larissa Wickline. Jones, Lilly, McGinnis and Wickline will double in the mile alongside sophomore Larah Blevins and junior Abbey Londeree. Back over in the 200-meters will be four underclassmen in sophomore Kendall Lilly, freshmen Alison Miller and Hannah Rhodes and sophomore Jenna Webb. Rounding out the top events for Concord will be Hammonds and K. Lilly in the high jump as both have entries in the top 10 of the event.
