CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's track & field team was in action at the Golden Eagles Invite Friday at Laidley Field.
Eight performances were either season best or career best times and distances for the Mountain Lions.
In the throwing events, junior Shawn Benett and freshman
Isaac Treadway both had personal-record marks in the hammer. Bennett tossed 39.71 meters to finish 16
th while Treadway threw 31.89 meters for 22
nd.
Bennett added a career-best toss of 36.57 meters in the discus which was good enough for 20
th.
Freshman
Zack Neal had a pair of personal-record times in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs. He clocked 2:05.89 to place 18
th in the 800-meters. He was 19
th in the 1,500-meters as he came around in 4:25.81. Graduate student
Connor Cormack was 25
th in the 1,500-meters as he sported a season-best time of 4:39.81.
Sophomore
Daminn Cunningham was the highest individual finisher for CU as he finished seventh in the high jump, clearing 1.80 meters.
Freshman
William Jackson sprinted 50.71 seconds, a season best, in the 400-meter dash as he placed eighth. Fellow freshman
Myles Gurnee was 20
th in 55.31 seconds.
Jackson added a 20
th-place showing in the 200-meter dash as he registered a season-best time of 22.97 seconds.
Senior Richard Henry came down the straightaway in 11.09 seconds as he placed eighth in the 100-meter dash.
The Mountain Lions host the Concord Invite Friday, April 10 at Callaghan Stadium. Â
