Concord In Fifth After Day Two of MEC Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Concord University men's track & field sits in fifth at the Mountain East Conference Outdoor Championships with the conclusion of the second day of competition.  

The Mountain Lions have 24 points so far in the meet.

After netting 10 teams points in the 10,000-meter run Sunday night, CU scored another 10 points in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Monday night.

For the second-straight night, junior Braden Ward recorded a fourth-place finish as he clocked 9:46.38 in the steeplechase. Sophomore Reese Hickey was fifth as he crossed in 9:51.87, and junior Andrew Tickle picked up the final point for Concord in the event as he placed eighth in a showing of 9:56.38.

Sophomore Tobi Adebulu wrapped up the decathlon by scoring 5,069 points, finishing fifth Monday afternoon. He was fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.76 meters (593 points)—his second-most points in a single event of the demanding 10-event sequence. Adebulu added a runner-up finish in the 1,500-meter run as he clocked 5:11.47 (495 points). Adebulu was also second in the shot put Sunday.

In prelim action, redshirt freshman Dom Collins clocked 10.82 seconds in the 100-meter dash to finish third and advance to Tuesday's final. Senior Richard Henry was 12th (11.12 seconds).

Freshman William Jackson placed 10th in the 400-meter dash prelim as he got around the oval in a career-best time of 50.12 seconds.

Sophomore Daminn Cunningham was 10th in the long jump (6.32 meters) while fellow sophomore Dallas Ford placed 12th (6.22 meters)

The third and final day of the MEC Championships is slated to start at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday.
