ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's and women's track & field teams will be in action at the Dr. Jack Toms Invite hosted by Lynchburg College Friday and Saturday in Lynchburg, Virginia.

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, Concord was at High Point where the top women's performance came in the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet of graduate student Hannah Altizer, freshman Savannah Cunningham, senior Jerell Strachan and senior Emily Wallace placed fifth in a time of 4:26.05. Wallace was 11th in the 1,500-meter run as she clocked 4:55.94 while Altizer ran 5:02.37 to finish 20th. Freshman Talayna Holmes stopped the timer at 12.65 seconds in the 100-meter dash to place 12th. Senior Alaina Mills had the top field event showing as she tossed 24.28 meters in the javelin throw finishing 17th. Her mark is top five in the MEC this season.

Middle distance and sprints headlined the top performances for the CU men. Graduate student Issac Prather was the runner-up in the 1,500-meters as he sported a time of 3:54.64. Sophomore Logan Zuchelli clocked 4:03.17 as he placed fifth. Graduate student Cedric Drennen (4:03.54) and senior Alex Watty (4:04.23) were sixth and eighth in the 1,500-meters. Sophomore Ian Gardner clocked 49.47 seconds in the 400-meter dash, placing ninth. Graduate student Gerard Hearst was ninth in the 100-meters (10.90 seconds). Hearst leads the MEC in the 100-meters with a time of 10.70 seconds two weeks ago.

LYNCHBURG ENTRIES
Mills looks to improve on her top-five mark in the javelin throw as she is joined by freshman Lilly Jackson and junior Taylor Perry. Jackson is also top 10 in the MEC in the javelin this spring (22.71 meters). In other throwing events, graduate student Jasmine Abrell is entered in the discus with Mills and junior Shayla Short. Altizer and Wallace make their season debut in the 5,000-meter run along with sophomore Madison Cornett and freshman Katy Walkup who are both coming off strong 10,000-meter runs two weeks ago. Holmes and Strachan both have top-10 times in the MEC in the 200-meter dash. They are entered with junior Ryann Davis, sophomore Shyanna James, Jackson, sophomore Kylea Pollinger, graduate student Josea Smith and freshman Katherine Webb. The quartet of sophomore Baylee Bentley, freshman Emma Londeree, senior Gretchen Mills and sophomore Erin O'Sullivan compete in the 800-meter run.

With his conference-leading time in the 100-meters, Hearst gets in the blocks this weekend with sophomore Prince Bhebhe, senior Robbie Cochran, Gardner, freshman Alex Patton and sophomore Kevon Young-Warren. A host of Mountain Lions will be in the 200-meters. Gardner enters the weekend sporting the second-fastest time (22.10 seconds). Hearst is fifth (22.73 seconds). The rest of the lineup is Bhebhe, sophomore Ethan Board, Cochran, Patton, freshman Johnathan Payne, Young-Warren and Watty. In middle distance action, four CU athletes are entered in both the 800-meters and 1,500-meters: sophomores Madoc Lathroum, Bryce Legg, Luke Ruhnke and Zach Wilson. The quartet of graduate student Daniel Baldwin, Drennen, junior Caleb Hatcher and junior Preston Prather compete in the 5,000-meters.
