Prather Concludes NCAA Outdoor Championships in 5,000-Meters

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Senior Issac Prather of the Concord University men's track & field team finished 21st in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship Saturday afternoon at Grand Valley.

Prather ran a time of 14:51.78 as he was not only the lone athlete from the Mountain East Conference, but was the lone representative in the race from the Atlantic Region.

Earlier in the week, the Summersville, West Virginia native capped a successful week at the national championships by earning Second Team All-American honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Prather was one of four athletes to double up in the steeplechase and 5,000-meters this weekend.

Afewerki Zeru of Colorado Springs was one of four runners that broke away with a mile left in the race. Zeru ran 13:52 to win by two seconds over Adams State's Awet Beraki and three seconds over Colorado Mines' Dillon Powell.
