SALEM, Va. – The Concord University men's track & field team competed in the Roanoke Invite in what was the final regular season indoor meet of the season Saturday afternoon ahead of next weekend's Mountain East Conference Championship.
The strongest performances for Concord came in the 3,000-meters. Senior
Cedric Drennen was the runner-up on Saturday as he clocked 8:48.75, moving up to 12
th in the event in the MEC. Junior
Nate Leichner was fifth as he crossed in 9:05.49. Sophomore
Caleb Hatcher placed 14
th in a time of 9:35.37.
Freshman
Ethan Board jumped to 16
th in the 800-meter run in the conference as he sported a time of 2:04.20. Board placed 12
th at Roanoke. Sophomore
Isaiah Jackson-Darby was 15
th in the event in a time of 2:11.20.
Fifth-year
JT Turner was sixth in the shot put as he marked 13.36 meters, a season-best throw. Turner finished 18
th in the weight throw with a distance of 9.18 meters.
Fifth-year senior
Marcus Wilson sprinted 52.98 seconds in the 400-meter dash to finish 17
th. Senior
Hunter Thomas was 17
th in the 60-meter dash as he crossed the tape in 7.24 seconds.
On Friday night at Grand Valley State, senior
Issac Prather ran a school-record time of 8:14.44 in the 3,000-meters and ranks in the top 35 in Division II with the time.
The top 16 athletes in each event make the final field at the MEC Championship that start Friday on Marshall's campus in Huntington, West Virginia.
