Results
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Concord University women's track & field team logged several top performances at the Dr. Jack Toms Invite hosted by the University of Lynchburg Friday and Saturday.
Some of the best finishes for Concord came in the field events.
Sophomore
Cassidy Hammonds and junior
Kiley Smich were top 10 in the triple jump. Hammonds had a career-best mark of 11.24 meters as she finished sixth. Making her track & field season debut after finishing up basketball season, Smich was ninth  at 10.75 meters.
Sophomore
Cierra Parker was the runner-up in the high jump as she cleared 1.58 meters. Fellow sophomore
Kendall Lilly went over 1.38 meters to place 12
th.
Smich had a leap of 4.92 meters in the long jump to finish 11
th.
Freshman
Violet Wall had a pair of impressive showings in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs. She was third in the 1,500-meters, crossing the line in 4:46.34, and came through in 2:18.43 in the 800-meters to place fourth.
Junior
Sara Turner clocked a personal-record time of 41:17.54 in the 10,000-meter run to finish ninth. She was joined in the event by junior
Abbey Londeree (12
th/44:56.08) and senior
Emma Londeree (13
th/46:35.43).
Over in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior
Piper Doughton ran a career-best time of 13:07.30, placing 10
th. Fellow junior
Charlotte McGinnis was 11
th as she stopped the timer at 13:33.96.
In the throwing events, junior Megan Poticher was 15
th in the javelin with a mark of 27.81 meters. Sophomore
Gracie McAlister was one spot back with a toss of 27.74 meters. Freshman
Chloe Cox had a career-best throw of 32.84 meters in the discus to finish 15
th. Poticher marked 32.39 meters to place 18
th.
Hammonds wrapped her up meet by running 12.75 seconds in the 100-meter dash and finishing 12
th.
Sophomore
Larah Blevins doubled up in the 1,500-meters and 5,000-meters.
She had a personal-record time of 21:03.54 in the 5,000-meters to finish 15
th. She placed 18
th in the 1,500-meters (5:43.86).
CU next competes at the Golden Eagle Invite hosted by the University of Charleston April 3.
