Complete All-Region Release
NEW ORLEANS – Sophomore
Cassidy Hammonds of the Concord University women's track & field team has landed on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) All-Atlantic Region Team, the organization announced Wednesday afternoon.
Hammonds earns her first career indoor all-region nod for her performance in the pentathlon. The Lee, Virginia native scored a school-record 3,369 points in the pentathlon at the Mountain East Conference Indoor Championships. Hammonds had the fifth-best point total in the Atlantic Region in the pentathlon at the end of the season. She finished third in the event at the MEC Indoor Championships.
Hammonds adds to her all-region accolades after earning All-Atlantic Region last outdoor season in the heptathlon.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season.
