The Concord University women's basketball team hits the road to face Davis & Elkins in a Mountain East Conference matchup Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the McDonnell Center.

LAST TIME OUT
The Mountain Lions defeated its second straight top five MEC team with an 82-75 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday night. Senior forward Abbie Smith asserted her low post dominance with 24 points, going 9-of-16 from the field. Sophomore guard Kenyah Stubbs and freshman guard Cadence Blackburn each finished with 12 points. Junior guard Alexis Frazee was the last Mountain Lion in double figures with 10 points off the bench. After a slow start in the first quarter, Concord shot at least 50 percent in the final three quarters and 52.5 percent from the game. Defensively, CU patrolled the three-point line as the Bobcats went just 6-23 from beyond the arc and held WVWC to 43 percent from the floor.

ONE-SIDED THIRD QUARTER
Concord's bench posted 41 combined points, setting a new season high in the 31-point victory over the Fighting Falcons. Blackburn topped the charts with 24 points, going 8-of-10 from the field and 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. She added on three rebounds, two steals and an assist to cap off her career night. The Kopperston, West Virginia native scored 10 of Concord's 21 in the second quarter to push CU's lead to double-digits. Frazee also gave Concord a huge lift with 14 points, five rebounds, and a career-high eight assists. Frazee went 6-of-6 in the contest, including two triples coming in the fourth quarter. Her ability to pick out cutting Mountain Lions was on full display, including four assists to former high school teammate Smith.

PASS IT AROUND
Concord is coming off back-to-back contests with at least 15 assists. On the season when they rack up 15 or more assists, CU posts a 7-3 record. Blackburn tied her career high with six assists against the Bobcats. Smich, Smith, and senior guard Kennedy Scales each picked up two assists in the contest. Frazee, Stubbs, and Ziolkowski each had one to total 15 for the squad. In those 10 games when Concord has 15 or more assists, the Mountain Lions have shot above their average field-goal percentage (43.8 percent) in eight games. Stubbs is Concord's assist leader on the season, averaging 3.3 per game which ranks eighth in the MEC.

LET IT FLY
The three-point shot has fallen at a ridiculous clip for Concord over the last two games. The Mountain Lions are a combined 17-of-26 which is good for a 65.4 percentage from downtown. Doing a lot of the deep shot-making for Concord is the bench duo of Blackburn and Frazee. Across the past two games, Blackburn is 7-of-9 and Frazee is 4-of-4 to propel the Mountain Lions. Against the Bobcats, Scales went a perfect 2-of-2 from three-point range. On the season, Concord ranks fourth in the MEC in team three-point percentage (32.6 percent). Individually, Frazee is tied for sixth in the conference in made three-pointers (37) while shooting 48.1 percent from three-point distance.

KEEP ROLLIN'
Concord is eyeing its first five-game winning streak of the season, as the Mountain Lions are winners of four straight. Another streak Concord will hope to maintain is the 10-game stretch of victories they have over Davis & Elkins. The Mountain Lions have risen up the standings amongst MEC foes, and have sharpened on both sides of the ball. CU ranks as the third scoring offense in the MEC (76.3 points per game) and they do it with the second-best efficiency in the conference (43.8 percent). The Mountain Lion defense has also been stellar, posting the second-best opponent field goal percentage (38.8 percent) and opponent three-point percentage (27.1 percent).  

EVERYBODY CHIPS IN
The Mountain Lions have been getting production from everyone that touches the hardwood. Against WV Wesleyan, all seven players who entered the game scored at least eight points. Taking a look back at the first matchup with Davis & Elkins, Concord saw 11 different players score. Five of them ended in double figures, with Stubbs topping the charts with 17 points. Frazee, Scales and Ziolkowski each had 12 points. Smith put up 10 points in the 85-64 home win. Five players had at least five rebounds in the game as well with freshman guard Nasiya Smith tallying nine boards. Smich and Ziolkowski each had six rebounds. CU shared the rock, collecting 20 assists in the easy win.

SCOUTING THE SENATORS
The Senators haven't had the year they hoped for sitting at 1-21 with a handful of games remaining this season. A major bright spot for them has been the play of sophomore guard Jahniya Marion. Marion leads the Senators with 13.8 points per game, pairing that with two assists and steals each contest. D&E looks to pick up their first conference win of 2025-26 in Saturday's matchup.
