SALEM, Va. – The Concord University men's track & field team had well-rounded performances in each discipline Friday and Saturday at the Bast-Cregger Invite hosted by Roanoke College.
Starting with the field events, the Mountain Lions received a win from sophomore
Dallas Ford in the triple jump as he marked 13.47 meters. Fellow sophomore
Daminn Cunningham placed seventh with a leap of 12.72 meters.
The duo also finished in the top 20 of the long jump.
Cunninham had a mark of 6.58 meters, good enough for seventh, while Ford soared to 5.71 meters to finish 17
th. Cunningham finished off the meet with a clearance of 1.79 meters in the high jump to finish seventh.
Sophomore
Tobi Adebulu made his season debut in the heptathlon as he registered a career-best point total of 3,628 to finish fourth. Adebulu's best events were the high jump that he won with a clearance 1.83 meters. He picked up 653 points. In the shot put, Adebulu scored 488 points and finished second after tossing 10.04 meters, and in the 60-meter hurdles he sprinted 9.70 seconds to earn 599 points and a fourth-place finish.
Three Mountain Lions were in the top eight of the 800-meter run. Junior
Braden Ward clocked 2:00.33 to place sixth. Fellow junior
AJ Skeens came through in a season-best time of 2:01.06 to place seventh, and sophomore
Reese Hickey also sported a season-best time of 2:01.18 for eighth.
Sophomore
Brandon Canaday ran 4:34.51 in the mile to place fifth. Freshman
Johnny Walkup stopped the timer at 4:43.50 to finish 17
th.
And finally in the sprints, redshirt freshman
Dom Collins was the runner-up in the 60-meter dash in 6.92 seconds. Sophomore
Nate Cogle cruised to a showing of 7.22 seconds to finish 19
th.
The duo of freshman
William Jackson and senior
Andrew Beohler led the way for Concord in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes.
Jackson was 10
th in the 400-meters as he sprinted 52.42 seconds. Beohler had a personal-record time of 52.82 seconds which was 12
th in the field, and placed inside the top 16 in the MEC.
In the 200-meters, Jackson was 15
th in a time of 23.72 seconds while Beohler was two spots back in 23.92 seconds.
CU has its final tune-up meet before the Mountain East Conference Indoor Championships, February 6-7 at Marshall's Jewel City Invite.
