OPENING TIP
The Concord University women's basketball plays their first ranked opponent of the season as they face #21 Fairmont State at Joe Retton Arena Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Mountain Lions picked up a big road victory over Point Park in their last game. Concord shot just a scratch under 50 percent from beyond the arc (13-27) in a game that saw the offense really click. Not only did the Mountain Lions have a good day on offense, but their defense was giving the Pioneers all sorts of trouble. CU came away with a season-high 14 steals and forced PPU to commit 21 turnovers. For the Mountain Lions, this was the fourth straight conference win which has Concord at the top of the Mountain East Conference.

BIG SHOT BARRAGE
Concord was simply stellar with their three-point shooting against Point Park. 13 made three-pointers set a new season-high and threatened the Concord program record of 16 made threes in a game. CU started the game with an incredible pace, making five threes in the first and second quarter. Not only were they making the triples, but Concord was efficient. At the end of the first half, Concord shot 10-17 from beyond the arc for a percentage of 58.8. The bulk of the threes came from junior guard Alexis Frazee and freshman guard Lacee Smith as they each hit five threes. Both Frazee and Smith did this while coming off the bench as Concord also put up their most bench points of the season with 37. Frazee ended the game with 17 points and Smith finished with 15 of her own.

RUNNING THE OFFENSE
Sophomore guard Kenyah Stubbs has been instrumental to the team in her first year in the Maroon and Gray. Against Point Park, she pulled the strings for the CU offense in one of their best outings thus far. Stubbs had a career-high six assists against the Pioneers and only had one turnover in a very efficient display of passing. In games where Stubbs has three or more assists, Concord holds a 4-0 record including two conference victories. As a unit, Concord tallied 17 assists in the win over Point Park which was their second most on the season.

QUICK HANDS
Concord's defensive intensity really shined against PPU. The Mountain Lions were all over Point Park and changed up their pressure schemes, employing a variety of presses to make the Pioneers uncomfortable. Stubbs had her paws all over this game, coming away with five steals, the first time she's done that with Concord. It wasn't just her who got involved as junior guard Kiley Smich finished with three steals, senior guard Kennedy Scales had two, and sophomore forward Trinity Henderson also had a pair of steals. CU moves to a perfect 5-0 in games when they have less turnovers than their opponents after the victory over Point Park.

CRASH THE GLASS
Through 10 games in the 2025-26 season, Concord has been one of the better rebounding teams in the conference. They rank third in total rebounding, averaging 40.3 per game. Senior forward Abbie Smith leads the charge, pulling down 10.6 rebounds per game. This ranks first in the MEC and she's just one of two players to average double-digit rebounds. Her frontcourt mate, senior forward Olivia Ziolkowski, averages 5.2 rebounds per game which is second most for CU.

EXPLOSIVE HISTORY
In their two meetings a season ago, the home team enjoyed large victories over the visiting squad. Concord took down Fairmont State at home by 23 and Fairmont State defeated the Mountain Lions by 27. Let's take a look at the Mountain Lions' big win over the Fighting Falcons from last season. Abbie Smith put up 21 points and 11 rebounds in the victory. She did that on an efficient 6-9 from the field and a perfect 9-9 from the charity stripe. On the defensive end, Smith added four blocks and a pair of steals. Scales also finished in double figures with 10 points as Concord had five scorers eclipse 10 points in the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

5 - Concord looks for their fifth straight win, something they did a year ago from February 1 - February 15.

6 - The Mountain Lions are a perfect 6-0 when they commit less than 15 turnovers.

100 - Abbie Smith suits up in the Maroon and Gray for the 100th time against Fairmont State.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING FALCONS
Fairmont State enters as the only MEC team ranked inside the Top 25 of the WBCA National Poll sitting at number 21. They enter with a 7-2 record and are coming off of a nailbiting loss against Glenville State. The Fighting Falcons are led by junior guard Gabby Reep who averages an efficient 13.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. As a unit, Fairmont State thrives off of creating turnovers. They force 23.6 turnovers a contest and have a turnover margin of 6.33 which is second in the MEC.
