INDIANAPOLIS – The Concord University women's soccer team is ranked ninth in the third and final release of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Rankings.
After not appearing in either of the first two regional rankings, a four-game win streak has catapulted the Mountain Lions int the rankings at number nine.
The top seven teams in the Atlantic Region make the NCAA Tournament at season's end. Two conference champions, one each from the Mountain East Conference and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, automatically qualify. The top five at-large teams in the Atlantic Region will also hear their name called during the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Selection Show Monday, November 17 at 6:30 p.m.
Concord's result at Fairmont State in the MEC Semifinals does not factor into the regional rankings, as the regional formula is computed at the conclusion of Sunday's games.
West Chester (12-1-4), Gannon (15-1-2), Shepherd (8-1-6), Kutztown (11-4-1), West Virginia State (15-3-1), Slippery Rock (12-3-1), Indiana (Pa.) (14-2-2), Fairmont State (14-1-3) and Concord (11-5-3) were the teams ranked by the Atlantic Region this week.
