Concord Competes in Roanoke College's Finn Pincus Invite

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's and women's track & field teams get set to travel to the Finn Pincus Invite hosted by Roanoke College Friday and Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
Graduate student Emily Wallace was the top individual finisher for Concord at The Burg Open hosted by Lynchburg on Friday as she placed fourth in the mile, clocking a time of 5:24.03. Wallace backed up her mile performance with a ninth-place showing in the 3,000-meter run (11:11.13). Wallace's time in the mile is the second fastest in the Mountain East Conference this winter. Sophomore Talayna Holmes stopped the timer at 8.03 seconds in the 60-meter dash to place sixth at Lynchburg. CU's 4x400-meter relay of sophomore Emma Jenkins, freshman Marin Parker, Wallace and freshman Izzy Williams ran a season-best time of 4:26.04 to claim second. Graduate student Abbey Wallace was 16th in both the shot put (8.88 meters) and weight throw (8.35 meters).

Junior Logan Zuchelli ran the fastest mile in the MEC this season with his time of 4:19.69. At Lynchburg, Zuchelli was the runner-up. Freshman Braden Ward finished 13th (4:35.83). Junior Ian Gardner ran 50.95 seconds in the 400-meter dash and 23.10 seconds in the 200-meter dash as he placed fourth and 12th, respectively. CU's 4x400-meter relay of freshman Jaidyn Foddrell, Gardner, freshman Bradley Harris and senior Isaiah Jackson-Darby placed fifth in a time of 3:31.98. Ward ran 9:18.81 in the 3,00-meter run.

FINN PINCUS ENTRIES
Friday and Saturday's action for the Mountain Lions will be highlighted by a large contingent in the 800-meters and mile. Presently, three Concord athletes are in the top 16 of the 800-meters in the conference: Jenkins (fifth), freshman Hayley Collins (14th) and junior Kaylee Dixon (16th). In all, 13 women's runners for CU will be in the 800-meters at Roanoke College as Collins, Dixon and Jenkins seek to improve their time while the other are trying to work their way into the top 16. Junior Madison Cornett (5:38) is currently sixth in the mile in the MEC while Jenkins (5:45) and sophomore Katy Walkup (5:47) are 10th and 11th, respectively. The trio will be in the mile as will seven others.

In field event action, five are entered in the shot put: freshman Nadiyah Abdussalaam, freshman Abby Humphrey, senior Taylor Perry, freshman Meagan Poticher and Wallace. Abdussalaam and Perry are scheduled to compete in the long jump along with sophomore Lilly Jackson.

In men's sprint events, junior George Acuna III, freshman Jacob Coy, Foddrell and Harris are entered in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. Like the women, several are scheduled to compete in the 800-meters and mile for the Concord men. Among those doubling up are freshman Brady Amico, freshman Garrett Hatcher, freshman Wes Holcomb, sophomore Alex Irvin, junior Madoc Lathroum and freshman AJ Skeens.
