TURNAROUND TIME
By downing Urbana, 92-87, in the MEC Quarterfinals, the Mountain Lions collected their 21st win of the season and the 44th for the program in the last two seasons. It also marked the second straight season Concord will appear in the MEC Semifinals. In the five years prior to the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, CU only won 43 combined games. Furthermore, Saturday will be head coach Kenny Osborne's sixth appearance in a conference semifinal with each coming in consecutive years (2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2019, 2020). In each instance, the Mountain Lions have lost in the semifinals. Last season, the Mountain Lions fell to Charleston in the MEC Semifinals. In both 2011 and 2012, CU lost to Glenville State.

EFFICIENT OFFENSE
In the win over Urbana, junior forward Riley Fitzwater set the MEC Tournament record for field-goal percentage by shooting 9-of-10 from the field on her way to 21 points in the contest. As a team, the Mountain Lions shot 55.4 percent which was just two percentage points off the MEC Tournament single-game record set by Wheeling against Fairmont State in 2015. Senior forward Madison May finished the game shooting 55 percent (11-for-20). Sophomore guards Maggie Guynn and Gracie Robinson were both 50 percent from the floor in the game as the duo combined to score 25 points. Thursday marked the 10th time this season, the Mountain Lions have shot 50 percent or better from the field in a game. CU is 10-0 in those games. Additionally, Concord climbed up to fourth in Division II in field-goal percentage at 48.6 for the season after Thursday's performance.

MOVIN' ON UP
By scoring 29 points in the win over Urbana, May positioned herself to 1,767 career points. The Athens, West Virginia native is now within 15 points of passing Katrina Daniels for second on the all-time scoring list at Concord. In her last six career games against GSC, May is averaging 28.5 points. Meanwhile with her first rebound against Urbana Thursday, Fitzwater collected her 1,000th career rebound. She became the second player in MEC history, joining West Liberty's KiKi Simpson, to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds. In program history, Fitzwater joined the club of Jolysa Brown and Renee Gagnier as players to reach 1,000 in both points and rebounds. Among active players, Fitzwater ranks seventh in Division II in rebounding.

BALANCING ACT
The Mountain Lions finished Thursday with five players in double figures as junior guard Keely Lundy's 12 points joined the group of Fitzwater, Guynn, May and Robinson in double figures. It marked the first time since a January 18 win over Davis & Elkins that CU placed five players in double figures. Concord is 7-1 this season when four or more players score in double figures, and is undefeated against MEC teams—6-0. The lone loss for Concord came back on November 14 when four players scored in double digits in a narrow loss to UVa.-Wise. Against GSC last Saturday, May had 29 points, Fitzwater netted 26, Lundy recorded 15 and Guynn chipped in 11. Junior forward Tamra Scott just missed double figures with eight points—all in the first quarter.

UPSET ON THE MIND
After losing 10 straight games to Glenville State, CU pulled off a 103-102 upset win over the Pioneers to close the regular season last Saturday. Previously, the last win for the Mountain Lions over GSC was December 2014 on the road. Concord shot a blistering 66.2 percent from the field which was a single-game MEC record, surpassing Shepherd's record of 65.1 percent against West Virginia State from last season. CU shot 65 percent or better in the final three quarters of the game, including 70.5 percent in the third. In their last four third quarters, Concord has shot 56.9 percent from the field. Against Glenville State, Fitzwater made 12-of-15 shots while Guynn and Lundy combined to go 10-for-17, including the duo going 6-of-12 from three-point range. The bench trio of Scott and freshman guards Ashton Funderburg and Nakaila Gray were a combined 8-of-9 in the game.

During its eight-game winning streak, the Mountain Lions are averaging 86.8 points per game including going over 90 or more points in three straight games heading into Saturday's contest. Glenville State is the lone team in Division II averaging at least 100 points per game, and just posted an MEC-Tournament record 124 points in a 40-point win over West Virginia State in the MEC Quarterfinals. CU is 13-4 when scoring at least 80 points this and is a perfect 5-0 when hitting the 90-point threshold. Meanwhile, Glenville State has scored 120 or more points in eight games this season. In four of their five losses, the Pioneers have been held under the century mark.
