ATHENS, W.Va. – On Monday, Concord University women's basketball head coach
Kenny Osborne announced the early signees to the 2017 class.
Starting Tuesday, an in-depth look at each recruit begins with Kara Blanton.
Name: Kara Blanton
Height: 6-1
Position: Forward
Hometown: Lucasville, Ohio
High School: Piketon
Blanton is one of four players in the class that is at least 6-foot tall.
The Lucasville, Ohio native averaged 13 points and 11 rebounds per game as a junior as Piketon went 16-6. This season, the Redstreaks are off to a 4-0 start.
By averaging a double-double last season at Piketon, Blanton was a third team all-district selection. Last season, she was the seventh-leading scorer in the Scioto Valley Conference and was the leading rebounder in the league.
"Kara is a solid post presence," Osborne said. "She has great size and has a great build. Even though Kara's a player that scores mostly in the paint, she finds different ways to score the ball."
Wednesday's player profile will focus on Savannah Coble, a guard from North Carolina.
