OPENING TIP
The Concord University women's basketball travels to Frostburg State on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Mountain Lions late comeback came up just short against the fast-paced Pioneers of Glenville State. Concord showed great resiliency, reducing a 19 point lead to just four points late in the fourth quarter, but ultimately fell 91-86. In the defeat, senior guard Kennedy Scales had a fantastic game. The Salem, Virginia native dropped a career high 22 points, going 8-of-15 from the field, including three shots from beyond the arc. Senior forward Abbie Smith secured her 11th double-double of the year with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Smith also continued her hot streak from the foul line, going 6-6. Sophomore guard Kenyah Stubbs was just one rebound shy of the program's third ever triple-double. She finished with 15 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds against her former squad.

SHARE THE WEALTH
Concord did a great job of sharing the ball against the Pioneers, passing out 22 assists in the game. This is the second highest mark of the season for CU, and they were 2-0 on the season when having 20 or more assists. Stubbs topped the charts with 11 assists, racking up seven in the first half alone. Junior guardKiley Smich dished out six assists as both guards set their career highs in the stat. Scales tallied three assists in the loss. Senior forward Olivia Ziolkowski and junior guard Alexis Frazee each had an assist as well. Concord holds a record of 10-3 when they have more assists than its opponents in 2025-26.

USING THE THREE BALL
The three-point shot kept Concord in the game against Glenville State. CU uncorked 23 threes, netting 10 of them. This is good for a 43.5 percent, the fourth best clip of the season for Concord. Against GSU, Scales knocked down three triples to lead the Mountain Lions. Five other players hit a shot from three-point range in the game. Frazee and Smich each hit two shots from deep. The trio of freshman guards, Cadence Blackburn, Lacee Smith, and Nasiya Smith all hit one three off the bench. The Mountain Lions used the three-ball to mount their comeback, hitting five threes in the fourth quarter. On the season, the Mountain Lions have the third best percentage on threes in the conference, sitting at 32.1 percent.

MILESTONE MOMENTS
Entering the weekend, A. Smith stands one rebound shy of 1,000 for her career. She would become the fourth Concord player in program history to rack up 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in the Maroon and Gray, joining the club of Riley Fitzwater (2017-22), Jolysa Brown (2008-12) and Renee Gagnier (2001-04). Additionally, Smith is 35 points away from breaking into the top five in all-time scoring at CU. She goes into the game at Frostburg State with 1,687 points, sixth all-time at CU. Tracy Fletcher (1985-87) scored 1,722 points in her career for fifth at Concord. The only other active Division II player with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds is Colorado Mesa's Olivia Reed. In her last five games against Frostburg State, Smith is averaging 17.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game, including 14 points and eight rebounds versus FSU in December.

GET READY TO GRIND
The Mountain Lions picked up a 62-53 win over Frostburg State December 10 inside the Carter Center. It was just one of three times that CU has scored less than 65 points this season, and the only time Concord has been victorious when being held to fewer than 65 points in 2025-26. The Maroon and Gray put forth one of their best defensive performance of the year by holding Frostburg State to 31.0 percent shooting—one of four times limiting the opposition to less than 35 percent shooting. Concord is 4-0 in those games. Smith (14) and Stubbs (11) were the only two Mountain Lions in double figures. Smich added seven points and nine rebounds. FSU sports the second-best shooting percentage in the MEC (43.9) while Concord is third in the MEC in field-goal defense (39.9).

KEEP 'EM OFF THE LINE
Two of the best foul shooting teams in the MEC match up Saturday afternoon as Frostburg State leads the conference at 80.2 percent. Concord is fifth in free-throw percentage (74.0). One stark difference is Frostburg State's ability to get to the foul line. The Bobcats are third in the conference with 394 attempts this year. FSU averages 20.7 free-throw attempts per game and draws 19.8 fouls per contest. Defensively, CU commits just 17.7 fouls per game. When the teams met earlier this season, Concord outscored Frostburg State at the foul line (19-15). Stubbs was 5-for-6 at the foul line. Blackburn came off the bench to go 4-of-4 at the free-throw stripe. Frostburg State's Julie Spinelli leads the MEC at 87.3 percent at the foul line. A. Smith is just behind at 86.1 percent (87-for-101).
