KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – The Concord University men's cross country team finished third at the Rams Atlantic Region Preview Friday morning at the Ivey Redmon Sports Complex.
In a tightly-contested team race, the Mountain Lions scored 54 points as the top three teams were only separated by six points. Point Park won the meet with 48 points while Fayetteville State tallied 53 points.
Both senior
Braden Ward and junior
Brandon Canaday finished in the top five. Ward clocked 25:49 for the 8,000-meter course as he finished fourth overall. Canaday came through in 26:08 to place fifth.
Junior
Reese Hickey claimed eighth as he completed the course in 26:16, a career best time for 8,000-meters. Sophomore
Johnny Walkup was in the top 15 as he finished 14
th in a showing of 26:49. Senior
Bramley Childress was the final scoring runner for the Mountain Lion as his time of 27:11 was good enough for 23
rd.

Andrew Tickle placed 33
rd in the 91-athlete field as he clocked 27:29. Freshman
Landon Kennedy ran 28:32 to complete CU's top seven. Fellow freshman
Oliver Jamieson grabbed a spot in the top 50 as he ran 28:41 and finished 46
th.
Freshman
Ben Tenney was right behind in 47
th in a time of 28:43.
Sophomore
Zach Neal (29:13) and senior
Wes Holcomb (29:32) both ran personal-record times for 8,000 meters Friday morning. Freshman
Roman Zentek was two seconds behind Holcomb's time.
Freshmen
Dakota Pettry (32:38), Elijah Russell (32:45) and
Sam Sears (35:02) rounded out the Concord field.
Concord competes at the Paul Short Run Friday, October 2 at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
