Concord Hits Season-Best Marks at Golden Eagle Invite

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University women's track & field began the final month of the outdoor track season Friday at the Golden Eagle Invite at Laidley Field.

Field events, specifically the throwing events, were at the forefront of the top performances for Concord.

Freshman Chloe Cox and junior Meagan Poticher both posted personal-record throws in the hammer. Cox marked 37.00 meters to place 18th. Meanwhile, Poticher was 23rd as she tossed 34.76 meters. The duo also stood out in the discus throw. Cox hit a career-best mark of 33.70 meters to finish eighth. Poticher was two spots back at 33.34 meters, a season-best throw.

Sophomore Gracie McAlister also had a season-best mark in the discus (29.60 meters) as she placed 16th.

Sophomore Cassidy Hammons was one of the highest individual finishers for the Mountain Lions. She finished sixth in the 100-meter dash in a season-best sprint of 12.45 seconds.

Junior Sara Turner matched Hammonds' finish by placing sixth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 21:32.00.

Junior Kiley Smich clocked 1:02.35 to finish 12th in the 400-meter dash. Sophomore Jenna Webb recorded a season-best time of 1:06.11 as she finished 19th.

Smich added a ninth-place showing in the long jump, marking 4.81 meters.

Making her collegiate debut in the pole vault, freshman Avery Lilly cleared 1.85 meters to place 14th.

The Mountain Lions host the Concord Open Friday, April 10 at Callaghan Stadium.
