Four Selected Chick-Fil-A of Princeton Athletes of the Month

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University Athletic Department has announced its Chick-Fil-A of Princeton Athletes of the Month for February and March.

The February honorees are Dom Collins (men's track & field) and Cassidy Hammonds (women's track & Field) while Reghan Hintz (softball) and Jeremy Nguyen (men's golf) are the March recipients for athlete of the month.

Collins closed out an exceptional month of February by sprinting his way to the Mountain East Conference Indoor Championship in the 60-meter dash. He ran a career-best time of 6.70 seconds on February 22 at the MEC Championships which was also a school record time, and qualified Collins for the NCAA Division II National Championships. The Princeton, West Virginia native went on to finish 12th in Division II in the 60-meters, earning him Second Team All-American honors. His time at the Division II National Championships was 6.72 seconds.

Hammonds, a native of Lee, Virginia, had similar success at the MEC Championships in late February. She earned All-MEC Honorable Mention in two events and broke three school records during championship season. Hammonds eclipsed her own school records in the long jump (5.71 meters) and the pentathlon (3,369 points) as she earned All-MEC Honorable Mention. During the pentathlon, she also set a new program mark in the 60-meter hurdles (9.27 seconds), breaking the old record by Meagan Savioli in 2011. Hammonds rounded out the meet by placing sixth in the 60-meter dash.

Hintz was dominant in the circle during the month of March. She picked up four of her six wins for the season in March and also recorded a save. In total, the Melfa, Virginia native pitched 48.2 innings, allowing eight earned runs and piling up 48 strikeouts. Her ERA for the month was 1.16. In March, Hintz had a scoreless innings streak of 21.0 innings that included consecutive shutouts of West Virginia State (March 22) and Glenville State (March 25). Additionally, Hintz recorded a career-best 10 strikeouts against Davis & Elkins (March 28). She ranks third in the MEC in strikeouts for the year (84).

Nguyen, a native of Richmond, Texas, was Concord's top golfer over six rounds and two events in March. He had an average score of 78.6. At the Battle of Brunswick March 12-14, Nguyen rolled in six birdies during the tournament as his best score came in the first round, shooting a 77. During the Appalachian Collegiate in Blacksburg, Virginia, Nguyen helped CU to a seventh-place team finish. He tied for 26th individually with six more birdies. His best rounds at the Appalachian Collegiate were a pair of 78s during the first and second rounds.
