BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Freshman catcher/infielder
Hannah Niten of the Concord University softball team has been selected as the Mountain East Conference Player of the Week, the league office released Monday afternoon.
Niten, a native of High Point, North Carolina, is the MEC Player of the Week after her stellar week at the plate in helping the Mountain Lions go 4-2 in six games.
She batted .438 (7-for-16) with two home runs and seven RBI. Niten added a double to slug .875 for the week.
To start the week, Niten cracked a three-run home run in a 5-3 win over Glenville State Wednesday afternoon. She capped the six-game stretch by going 5-for-6 in a doubleheader against West Virginia Wesleyan Sunday. She was 3-for-3 with a double, home run and two RBI in game one versus the Bobcats. Niten added two more hits in an 11-2 victory.
Niten scored four runs in the six games.
Charleston's Addison Mass was named this week's MEC Pitcher of the Week.
The Mountain Lions travel to West Virginia State Friday afternoon.
