BREAK OUT THE BATS
Concord tied its season high in runs scored in the final game of the West Virginia Wesleyan doubleheader Sunday afternoon, winning 11-2. CU scored 11 runs February 27 in a win over Lees-McRae. In the game versus WVWC, the Mountain Lions collected 13 hits which was the fifth time this spring notching 10 or more hits. Five different players had multiple hits in the contest led by sophomore pitcher/outfielder Reghan Hintz and sophomore utility Blake Jamerson each smacking a double. Junior infielder Kendall Morgan recorded her team-best ninth multi-game of the season in the win over West Virginia Wesleyan. And freshman catcher/infielder Hannah Niten capped her impressive week with two hits. She was named MEC Player of the Week after going 7-for-16 with two home runs and seven RBI last week in six games.

PITCHING PROWESS
Even though Hintz had her scoreless innings streak end at 21.0 against Davis & Elkins Saturday, the Melfa, Virginia native became the first Mountain Lion with a 10-strikeout game in more than two years as she punched out 10 batters over eight innings against Davis & Elkins. The last CU pitcher to have 10 or more strikeouts in a game was junior Josi Ervin in February 2024 against Virginia Union. Hintz wasn't the only Concord pitcher to make headlines last weekend. Senior pitcher/infielder Madison Hollis tossed her fifth career complete-game shutout against Davis & Elkins which ties her for sixth on the Concord softball program list for career solo shutouts.

DIFFERENT WAYS TO WIN
Concord swept West Virginia State on March 22 by scores of 10-2 and 1-0. Lewis was 3-for-3 in game one with a double and two RBI. Hollis and Morgan each had two hits while sophomore utility Kristy McCord drove in a pair of runs. Lewis is 6-for-11 in her last four games against the Yellow Jackets. Hintz was the winning pitcher in both games versus West Virginia State as she allowed four hits and struck out eight over 10 shutout innings in March. CU has defeated WVSU in six of the previous eight games played.

GETTING OVER THE HUMP
The Mountain Lions dropped a pair of games to Charleston to begin the conference slate March 21, losing 6-3 and 5-3. Senior infielder Lacie Lewis and Niten each hit a home run in the first game to account for the scoring. CU led 3-2 heading into the seventh against Charleston in game two before losing by two runs. Hollis accounted two of the three runs scored in the second game, including a solo home run. Though Concord has not beaten UC in Athens since 2019, the Mountain Lions did toss two shutouts at Charleston last season in defeating the Golden Eagles, 1-0, twice. Morgan was responsible for both runs with a pair of RBI singles. Hollis pitched a four-hit shutout with three strikeouts in game one while Ervin finished off the sweep with a two-hit shutout.

SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
West Virginia State is coming off a 3-1 weekend where it swept West Liberty and split with Wheeling in the first home games of the season. Kylie Price was hitting .408 ahead of the doubleheader in Athens, but is just two for her last 17. She is tied for the team lead in batting average with Cassidy Cummings and Sydney Shamblin. Price has seven doubles and three home runs. Kaleigh Murphy was outdueled by Hintz in the 1-0 game in Athens. Murphy has only allowed five earned runs in her last 27.2 innings.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
UC has ripped off six straight wins and is tied for the MEC South lead at 8-2. Addison Mass is 14-3 overall and has a 1.72 ERA in the circle. Cali Masters completes the dominant pitching duo as she has won nine games and an ERA of 2.34. Together, Mass and Masters have combined for 263 strikeouts. Mass's 155 strikeouts are third in Division II. Kayla Moran (28) and Taylor Hodson (22) have combined to drive in 50 runs. Moran's 28 RBI are tied for first in the MEC.
