Concord Places Fifth at Jasmine Claggett Invite

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Concord University women's track & field team finished fifth at the Jasmine Claggett Invite hosted by West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday at Cebe Ross Field.

Concord tallied 36.5 points. The team winner was WVWC with 169 points.

Three Mountain Lions finished in the top eight of the 100-meter dash with junior Kiley Smich sprinting a career-best time of 13.18 seconds and finishing fourth. The sophomore duo of Kendall Lilly (13.49 seconds) and Jenna Webb (13.83 seconds) were seventh and eighth, respectively.

Smich accounted for points in the 200-meter dash. She was eighth in 27.80 seconds while freshman Violet Wall finished three spots in a time of 27.52 seconds.

Wall recorded a fifth-place showing in the 400-meter dash as she crossed in 1:01.06.

In the field events, freshman Avery Lilly cleared 2.10 meters to place fifth. She was joined in the scoring by fellow freshman Alison Miller who had a finishing height of 1.65 meters to finish seventh.

Junior Piper Doughton was fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as she clocked a time of 14:36.94. The duo of juniors Charlotte McGinnis (5:35.44) and Abbey Londeree (5:51.36) placed fifth and eighth, respectively, in the 1,500-meter run.

Webb marked 23.56 meters in the javelin to finish sixth. Sophomore Gracie McAlister was a spot behind with a toss of 23.22 meters.

Concord's next meet will be the Mountain East Conference Championships April 26-28 at Mylan Park in Morgantown, West Virginia.
