ATHENS, W.Va. - The Concord University men's track & field team recorded 10 event wins at the Mikey Cox Distance Classic Friday and Saturday at Callaghan Stadium.

The biggest win for the Mountain Lions came from sophomore
Reese Hickey in the mile run as he broke the school record in the outdoor mile rolling to a time of 4:19.46, eclipsing the previous mark held by Damon Akers in 2017 at 4:22.14.
Also in the middle distance events, sophomore
Jaedan Holstein clocked 2:06.25 in the 800-meter run for his event win.
Concord went one-two in the 10,000-meter run. Junior
Bramley Childress ran a personal-record time of 33:22.43 to pick up the win. Freshman
Johnny Walkup followed in 33:30.50.
CU tallied three wins in relays. The first coming in the 4x1,600-meter relay as senior
Connor Cormack, junior
Wes Holcomb, freshman Zack Neal and Walkup ran 20:57.40. In the distance medley relay, sophomore
Brandon Canaday, Hickey, freshman
William Jackson and junior
Braden Ward ran 10:51.81. And the 4x400-meter relay squad of freshman
Myles Gurnee, Holstein, Jackson and sophomore
Aaron Miller came through in 3:52.28.
Four more wins for the Mountain Lions came in the field events with three coming courtesy of junior
Shawn Bennett. He threw 35.01 meters in the hammer throw, 32.93 meters in the discus and 11.58 meters in the shot put for his trio of victories.
Sophomore
Daminn Cunningham went over 1.97 meters in the high jump to pick up a win.
Concord travels to the Charlotte 49er Classic in Charlotte March 19-21.
