ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's and women's track & field teams open the outdoor portion of the schedule by hosting the Mikey Cox Distance Classic Saturday afternoon at Callaghan Stadium.

Concord wrapped up the indoor season at the Mountain East Conference Indoor Championships February 22.
Sophomore
Cassidy Hammonds broke three school records during her All-MEC Honorable Mention performance in the pentathlon. She scored a school-record 3,369 points in the pentathlon which eclipsed her own program mark. Hammonds also broke her own record in the long jump (5.71 meters) and ran a school record in the 60-meter hurdles (9.27 seconds). Freshman
Violet Wall was 12
th in both the 800-meter and mile run in her MEC Indoor debut.
Redshirt freshman
Dom Collins was the MEC Champion in the 60-meter dash. Sophomores
Daminn Cunningham (long jump) and
Dallas Ford (triple jump) both earned podium finishes in their respective events to gain All-MEC recognition. Ford set the school record in the triple jump (14.05 meters). Junior
Braden Ward scored points in the 3,000-meter run as he finished seventh. Ward was also a top-10 finisher in the 5,000-meter run.

Saturday's meet will consist of events from 800-meters and longer. A 4x400-meter relay will close the day.
The Mountain Lion women will have six athletes in the 3,000-meters. Junior
Abbey Londeree and senior
Emma Londeree have top 10 seed times. The freshmen quartet of Molly Jones,
Avery Lilly, Wall and
Larissa Wickline make their outdoor debut in the event Saturday. Sophomore
Larah Blevins and junior
Charlotte McGinnis are scheduled for the 5,000-meters. Junior
Piper Doughton and
Sara Turner will compete in the 10,000-meter run with Turner also in the mile. CU's 4x400-meter relay will be Doughton and sophomores
Kendall Lilly,
Cierra Parker and
Jenna Webb.
In the 3,000-meters for the CU men will be sophomore
Brandon Canaday, junior
Bramley Childress, junior
Andrew Tickle and Ward. Childress will also be in the 10,000-meters along with freshman
Johnny Walkup. Concord occupies the top three seeds in the mile run: sophomore
Reese Hickey (4:24), Childress (4:25) and junior
AJ Skeens (4:26). The 4x400-meter relay squad will be freshman Myless Gurnee, junior
Jaedan Holstein, freshman
William Jackson and sophomore
Aaron Miller.
