HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Concord University women's track & field team wrapped up the regular season portion of the indoor season Friday and Saturday at Marshall's Jewel City Invite inside the Chris Cline Complex.
One of the highlights of the weekend was in the 5,000-meter run for Concord as four athletes finished in the top 16 Friday night.
Junior
Sara Turner recorded a career-best time in the event of 19:16.39 as she placed seventh. Fellow junior
Piper Doughton also ran a personal-record time of 20:48.91 to finish 12
th. Junior
Abbey Londeree and senior
Emma Londeree occupied 15
th and 16
th. A. Londeree ran 21:45.98 while E. Londeree came through in 22:39.46.
Sophomore
Cassidy Hammonds posted a long jump mark of 5.25 meters to finish ninth.
In other field event action, junior
Meagan Poticher had two top-25 finishes in the throws. She tossed 11.70 meters in the weight throw to finish 19
th. She threw 9.62 meters in the shot put for 21
st.
Hammonds was 25
th in the shot put (8.62 meters) while freshman
Chloe Cox had a personal-record throw in the weight threw of 10.14 meters to finish 25
th.
Freshman
Violet Wall was ninth in the mile in a showing of 5:18.55. Freshman
Avery Lilly (5:18.55) was 22
nd while junior
Charlotte McGinnis (5:59.75) placed 25
th.
Wall was 16
th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.66.
The next meet for the Mountain Lions is the Mountain East Conference Championships February 23-24 back at the Cline Complex.
