HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's track & field team turned in eight career-best times at Marshall's Jewel City Invite in the final indoor meet of the regular season Friday and Saturday at the Chris Cline Complex.
Five personal-record performances came in the 5,000-meter run Friday night.
Junior
Braden Ward finished as the runner-up as he crossed in 14:56. In the process, he rose to fifth in the Mountain East Conference in the 5,000-meters this winter. Sophomores
Brandon Canaday and
Reese Hickey finished third and fourth as both ran career-best time of 15:20.37 and 15:20.56, respectively. Canaday and Hickey both also moved inside the top 16 in the event.
Freshman
Johnny Walkup clocked a personal-record time of 15:44.92, finishing eighth. Junior
Bramley Childress ran 15:52.40 as he placed 10
th. Graduate student
Bryce Legg came through in a personal-record time of 16:17.37, good enough for 15
th.
Hickey continued his impressive meet in the 3,000-meter run as he clocked a career-best time of 8:41.39 which was 13
th in the field. His performance is also 13
th in the MEC. Childress rolled to a career-best time of 8:42.75 which was 16
th. He also bumped into the top 16 in the event in the conference.
Sophomore
Daminn Cunningham cleared a season-best height of 1.88 meters in the high jump to finish fifth. His clearance is seventh best in the MEC this winter.
Junior
AJ Skeens finished 17
th in the 800-meter run in a personal-record showing of 2:00.48.
Redshirt freshman
Dom Collins placed sixth in the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.95 seconds. Sophomore
Nate Cogle was 20
th with a time of 7.23 seconds.
Sophomore
Dallas Ford posted 8.75 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to finish 13
th. His time is 10
th in the MEC.
Concord's next meet is the MEC Championships February 23-24 at the Chris Cline Complex. Â
