SENIOR SATURDAY
Prior to Saturday's tilt against Point Park, head coach Todd May and the CU men's basketball program will recognize two seniors: guard Savier McCall and forward Ken Sallee. McCall has suited up in all 20 games this season, including starting the last three. He had a career night in Concord's 97-94 overtime win at Salem Wednesday. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native posted his first career double-double with single-game career highs in points (26) and rebounds (13). McCall is just one of three active Mountain Lions with a double-double in the Maroon and Gray, joining junior forward Boubacar Djigo and sophomore forward Kraig Gilbert. Sallee has been slowed by injury this season, but last year he was a key piece in CU going 17-11 and making the MEC Tournament Semifinals. He averaged 9.0 points per game and made the second-most three-pointers on the team with 41.

EVERYONE SCORES
Paced by McCall, all five Concord starters scored in double figures at Salem Wednesday night. Freshman guard Micah Young netted at least 20 points for the fifth time in the last seven games as he posted 21 points. Sophomore guard Josiah Rickards just missed his own double-double with 19 points and a career-best nine rebounds. Junior forward Anfernee Hanna, who is 14th in the MEC in scoring at 14.9 points per game, continued his consistency by finishing with 15 points at SU. And junior forward Eldon Terry rounded out those in double figures with 10 points that included two crucial three-pointers. Wednesday night marked the sixth time this season that CU had pushed five players into double figures, but it was the first time that it was the starting five for the Mountain Lions since last February in a home win over Bluefield State.

FIVE FOR FIVE
The number five played a crucial role in Concord's victory against Salem. Rickards threw in a career-best five three-pointers as part of his 19 points which was one point shy of his season high in scoring. The Chesapeake, Virginia native had hit three three-pointers three times in his career with the latest coming January 3 against Salem. Before Wednesday's outburst, Rickards had only had 14 triples this winter. Starting for the second straight game, Terry collected a career-best five blocks at Salem. It's the most blocks for a Concord player this season, and the highest total since Gilbert blocked six shots in a double overtime game at West Virginia State last February. Over his last four games, Terry is averaging 3.0 blocks, and is now fourth in the MEC at 1.4 blocks per game. The Brockton, Massachusetts native has at least one block in 18 of 20 games this year.

LET'S PLAY MORE
Wednesday was the first overtime game of the season for the Mountain Lions as it outlasted the Tigers for their sixth straight win over Salem. Concord is 4-2 in its last six overtime games, dating back to the 2022-23 season. Last season, the Maroon and Gray played in four overtime games, going 2-2. Wednesday's game at Salem was the latest in the season that CU has required an overtime game since the 2021 season when the Mountain Lions defeated Davis & Elkins 87-82 at the Carter Center February 13. In closing out the Tigers Wednesday, Concord was 50 percent from the field (4-for-8) in overtime and 5-for-6 at the foul line. Salem was just 4-of-10 from the floor in overtime. CU's last five overtime games have all been on the road. The last home overtime game was December 2023 against Notre Dame.

SCORE FOUR
The Mountain Lions have won all three previous meetings against Point Park, including a 78-61 win in mid-December in downtown Pittsburgh. In the victory, Concord shot 50 percent (30-for-60) from the floor and held Point Park to 42.1 percent while limiting the Pioneers to 16 points in the paint which is a season low for the CU defense. Gilbert (27 points, 11 rebounds) and Hanna (11 points) were the only two Concord players in double figures. In all three previous meetings, the Maroon and Gray has held Point Park to 42 percent or less, including 31 percent at the Carter Center in December 2024. In the only meeting in Athens, the Mountain Lions picked up an 88-69 win. Rickards had three of CU's 12 made three-pointers while Djigo secured 10 rebounds.

FIGHTING OFF THE FALCONS
Concord has won two straight games against Fairmont State, both on the road. Earlier this season, Concord picked up a 95-87 win over the then eighth-ranked team in Division II. Hanna led the Mountain Lions in scoring with 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 showing from three-point range. Djigo went for 22 points and 11 rebounds for one of his 12 double-doubles this year. Sophomore guard Brendan Hoffman was critical off the bench with 16 points in 21 minutes. Young came on to score 14 points in a reserve role. Monday's clash between the Mountain Lions and Fighting Falcons will be the fourth straight time that FSU is ranked inside the top 10 in Division II. In the upset win at Joe Retton Arena in December, Concord hit on 13 three-pointers, including three each from Gilbert, Hanna and Hoffman.

BUST THE BOARDS
When Concord and Fairmont State meet on the hardwood, the rebounding battle is normally a deciding factor in the outcome. The Mountain Lions and FSU are two of the top rebounding teams in the MEC. The Fighting Falcons are the top rebounding team in the conference with a margin of +7.5. CU is third in the league with a margin of +4.3. The offensive glass is pivotal to both teams' success as the Mountain Lions collect an MEC-best 13.8 offensive boards per game. Fairmont State is the only other team in the MEC recording more than 13 offensive rebounds per game (13.2). At FSU, Concord notched 16 offensive rebounds while FSU grabbed 17 as both teams finished with 16 second-chance points. Concord only has two wins this year when losing the rebounding battle, at Fairmont State and Wednesday night at Salem.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
1- The last two games at the Carter Center between CU and FSU have both been decided by one point, a 77-76 Fairmont State win December 2024, and a 69-68 victory for Concord January 2024.

14.6- Average margin of victory for Concord in three all-time games against Point Park.

43- Points scored by McCall through 19 games before Wednesday's breakout against Salem.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Point Park saw a three-game winning streak end Wednesday night with a loss to Glenville State. The Pioneers are led by Aidan Anderson who is second in the MEC in scoring (18.8 points per game). Anderson shoots 52.5 percent for the season. Grant Welch has buried 60 three-pointers this season and is second in the MEC in three-point percentage (42.9) and fourth in makes. Last year's leading scorer for PPU, Kaden Warner, is netting 12.9 points per game. PPU is one of two teams in the conference scoring less than 80 points per game (75.9). Point Park is allowing the opposition to shoot 49 percent from the floor.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING FALCONS
Fairmont State starts the weekend with an eight-game winning streak that dates back to January 7. The Fighting Falcons have five players in double figures. Drey Carter, one of the favorites for MEC Player of the Year, is scoring 16.2 points and grabbing 7.3 rebounds per game. Miguel Martinez throws in 14.4 points per game, aided by his 63 three-pointers, third in the MEC. Career 1,500-point scorer David Jolinder nets 13.0 points per game. CJ Meredith throws in 12.7 points per game, and Tyheil Peterson who is averaging 14.8 points during the winning streak scores 11.1 points for the season. Former Mountain Lion Rene Diop visits the Carter Center Monday. In three seasons at CU, Diop blocked 137 shots which is third all-time at Concord. He was the 2025 MEC Defensive Player of the Year.
