Head Coach Todd May

Todd May

Todd May starts his 10th season as the head men's basketball coach at Concord during the 2025-26 school year.

May owns a record of 137-115 on the sidelines in Athens, and is the third-winningest coach in program history behind Steve Cox (336 wins) and Don Christie (171 wins) who the Carter Center Court is named after.

Under May, the Mountain Lions have made four Mountain East Conference Tournament Semifinal appearances (2018, 2019, 2024, 2025).

May's 2023-24 squad made the NCAA Tournament after finishing with a 22-7 mark. Concord earned the sixth seed in the NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament. With the historic season, CU also returned to the MEC Semifinals for the first time in five years under May's guidance. The team success brought individual accolades with Kollin Tolbert (first team), JJ Harper (second team) and Rene Diop (honorable mention) all landed on the All-MEC Teams.

Overall, May has coached ten All-MEC performers with three players earning All-MEC in 2025: Kollin Tolbert (first team), Corey Boston (second team) and Rene Diop (honorable mention). Tolbert was named MEC Player of the Year, CU's first conference player of the year in 20 years. Diop was awarded the inaugural MEC Defensive Player of the Year.

And Tolbert became the second All-American on May's watch, joining Tommy Bolte (2017, 2018).

After winning 11 games during his first year on the sidelines, May and the Mountain Lions made an six-win improvement as they went 17-13 during the 2017-18 season. May collected his first 20-win season, and the program's 10th, when CU went 20-10 in 2018-19.

CU finished the 2022-23 campaign with a 15-15, appearing in the MEC Quarterfinals. May helped Daniel Rahama became a First Team All-MEC First Team selection as well as a second team all-region player, the first for the program in four years.

The Mountain Lions finished sixth in the Mountain East Conference during the 2021-22 season. It included CU's fifth all-conference selection, Matt Weir, with May as the head coach. During the shortened 2021 season, Concord posted a record of 9-8 and made the MEC Quarterfinals for the fourth consecutive season.

While coaching Bolte to consecutive All-American honors, May watched Bolte become the sixth player in school history surpass 2,000 career points. May has also had the privilege of coaching back-to-back NCAA Division II Statistical Champions--Bolte in scoring during the 2017-18 season and Jair Rodgers in made three-pointers per game during the 2018-19 campaign.

May also coached Aaron Miller to a spot on the All-Mountain East Conference Second Team during his senior season. Additionally, May saw Tommy Bolte go from a reserve role player as a freshman to blossoming as one of Concord's best players in 2016-17.

May spent the prior four seasons as the assistant coach on McBride's staff at Concord as the Mountain Lions piled up a mark of 66-51 over that span with 42 of those wins coming the last two seasons. May played a vital part in Concord winning the 2016 MEC Tournament Championship and appearing in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Tournament. It was for the first time for both feats since 1997.

Along with his coaching duties at Concord, May has also assisted with the compliance work since arriving prior to the 2012-2013 season.
