HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's track & field team finished eighth at the Mountain East Conference Indoor Championships that concluded Sunday at the Chris Cline Indoor Track Complex.
CU tallied 33 points over the two-day competition.
The biggest highlight of the meet for the Mountain Lions came Sunday afternoon as redshirt freshman
Dom Collins sprinted his way to an MEC Championship in the 60-meter dash. Collins came down the runway in 6.70 seconds which is a school record, previously held by RJ Anderson at 6.78 seconds from the 2012 season.
Collins' time is the 11
th-fastest time in Division II this season. And he is the first Concord athlete to win the 60-meter dash at the MEC Indoor Championships.
CU got points from sophomore
Dallas Ford and
Daminn Cunningham in the triple jump.
Ford broke the indoor school record in the triple jump, held by Nathan Tanner at 13.97 meters from the 2011 campaign. Ford marked 14.05 meters to place third. Cunningham hit 13.39 meters to place eighth.
Junior
Braden Ward tallied two points for Concord in the 3,000-meter run as he clocked 8:47.91 for seventh place. Sophomore
Reese Hickey ran 8:56.36 in 11
th. Junior
Bramley Childress was five seconds back as he placed 13
th.

Myles Gurnee, freshman
William Jackson and sophomore
Aaron Miller ran 3:27.47 in the 4x400-meter relay to finish sixth.
Sophomore
Tobi Adebulu picked up a point for Concord in the heptathlon. He scored 3,561 points. The best event for Adebulu was the final event—the 1,000-meter run, where he scored 632 points and finished second in a time of 3:03.33.
Junior
AJ Skeens rounded out the competitors on Sunday for the Mountain Lions as he clocked a personal-record time of 4:26.77 in the mile run. He finished 13
th.
Charleston was the team champion for the weekend. The MEC Championship MVP was Akeem Mustapha who was also the MEC Field Athlete of the Year. Mathew Meli of Charleston was the MEC Track Athlete of the Year.
