HAVE A DAY, KB
Senior outfielder
Korbin Bostic had a career day in Concord's 12-11 victory over Bluefield State in game one of Wednesday's doubleheader. The Logan, West Virginia native had three hits and six RBI in the contest. He notched two, two-run doubles and had a two-RBI single later in the contest. The six RBI for Bostic were the most in a single game for a Concord player since Zack Saryeldin in 2023 versus West Liberty. Bostic came back later in game two with four RBI as he launched his first career grand slam. It was Bostic's eighth career home run at Concord, and the 12
th of his career—including his time at Bluefield State. Bostic's 10 RBI in two games were the most since Saryeldin racked up 10 in a doubleheader, five each game, versus West Virginia Wesleyan in 2024.
HIT MACHINES
Senior infielder
Matthew DiSanti and senior outfielder
Dawson Gragg combined for eight of Concord's hits in game one versus Bluefield State as both players registered four. DiSanti notched his third career four-hit game in the Maroon and Gray, and it was his second game this season with three or more hits. For Gragg, he tallied his second career four-hit game, and the first since April 2024 against West Virginia State. DiSanti is leading Concord in batting average at .417 while Gragg is third at .357. DiSanti's 10 hits are fourth in the Mountain East Conference.
BRING ON THE CLOSER
Junior pitcher
Ryder Wagenknecht was called on to close out game one versus Bluefield State as the Wilmington, North Carolina native recorded the final out of the contest with the go-ahead run at the plate. It was Wagenknecht's third appearance out of the bullpen through seven games which is tied for the team high with freshman
Kevin Knight. In addition to recording his first save at CU, Wagenknecht got his first win at Concord on February 8 after pitching a scoreless 12
th inning against Ferrum. In 1.2 innings, Wagenknecht has not been scored on, and four of his five recorded outs have been strikeouts.
BREAK THE TREND
This weekend will be the second straight year that Concord and Shepherd meet on the baseball diamond. The Mountain Lions and SU split a doubleheader March 1 last spring. CU won the first game, 4-2, behind a two-run home run from senior catcher
Kaden Swaim and a stellar pitching performance from current Concord pitching coach
Zach Powell. Senior pitcher
Logan Darrow got the save in Powell's win. The victory was the Maroon and Gray's first win over Shepherd in the last 10 tries. CU will be seeking to win back-to-back games over the Rams for the first time since the 2014 season when the Mountain Lions won the middle two games of a four-game Mountain East Conference series.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
Shepherd has scored nine or more runs in four of its five wins this season as the Rams' offense averages 9.3 runs per game. Ethan Burgreen paces the SU bats, hitting .438 with two doubles and four RBI. Bodie Pullen is batting a stout .381 with six RBI. Of qualified hitters, five Rams are hitting at least .330 as Shepherd's team batting average is .337. The pitching staff for SU sports an ERA of 8.00. Riley Morgan has nine strikeouts in six innings across two appearances.
