ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University Athletic Department and Chick-Fil-A of Princeton is proud to announce the Concord Athletes of the Month for September as Shambre Jackson of the Concord University football team and Violet Wall of the Concord University women's cross country team.

Jackson, a native of Orlando, Florida had a stellar first month of the season in his first year at Concord. The CU defensive end racked up 17 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Jackson became the first Concord player with a two-sack game this season as he notched two quarterback takedowns in a 26-22 win over Bluefield State September 5. Jackson's second sack effectively ended the game as the clock ran out before BSU could get another play off at the end of regulation. Jackson led the MEC in sacks through the first month of the season, and continues to be one of the best pass rushers in Division II, ranking in a tie for ninth in sacks in Division II.

Wall began her sophomore campaign on the cross country course with some big performances. The Pearisburg, Virginia native was in the top 15 of all three races for the Mountain Lions during the month of September. She finished 15th at the Virginia Tech Invite, and for her performance Wall was named the Mountain East Conference Athlete of the Week for the season's first week (September 7). She followed it up with an eighth-place showing at the Southern Showcase. And at the Rams Atlantic Region two weeks ago, Wall placed 11th.Wall's time of 19:18 for the 5,000-meter course at the Southern Showcase was just 20 seconds slower than her career-best 5,000-meter time in cross country.
