HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Concord University women's track & field team opened up the first indoor meet of 2026 with several promising performances at the Marshall Alumni Invite Saturday inside the Cline Athletic Complex.
Among the top individual performances was two top-10 finishes by sophomore
Cassidy Hammonds in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump. Hammonds finished sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.27 meters. She clocked 9.42 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to place tenth.
Freshman
Violet Wall led five Mountain Lions to top-20 showings in the 800-meter run. She came through in 2:22.55 for fifth. Hammonds added a third top 10 on the day by running 2:31.20 for tenth. Freshman
Avery Lilly stopped the timer at 2:34.97 in 15
th, and junior
Charlotte McGinnis was 17
th in 2:42.00.
Wall and Lilly were in the top 20 in the mile run. Wall placed 12
th as she sported a time of 5:18.20. Lilly finished 18
th at 5:45.78.
In the throwing events, junior
Meagan Poticher was top 20 in the both the shot put and weight throw. She tossed 9.32 meters in the shot put to finish 14
th. Poticher added a throw of 10.58 meters in the weight throw to finish 16
th.
Sophomore
Jenna Webb clocked 1:08.02 in the 400-meter dash, good enough for 12
th.
Webb was part of CU's 4x400-meter relay team that finished eighth. Hammonds, Lilly, Wall and Webb combined to run 4:19.14.
Junior
Sara Turner ran a personal-record time of 11:06.97 in the 3,000-meter run to place 20
th.
The Mountain Lions will be off for two weeks before competing at the Liberty Open January 23-24.
