LYNCHBURG, Va. – Sophomore
Cassidy Hammonds of the Concord University women's track & field team placed eighth in the pentathlon to begin the indoor season at the Liberty Kick Off Thursday.

Hammonds scored 2,918 points which was less than 50 points from her own school record.

Her best scores came in the two running events—the 60-meter hurdles and the 800-meter run. She scored 773 points in the hurdles with a time 9.68 seconds. She clocked 2:34.40 in the 800-meter run to tally 639 points. She added 601 points with a mark of 5.15 meters in the long jump.

Other scores included 491 points in the high jump (1.38 meters) and the 414 points in the shot put (8.22 meters).

Due to inclement weather, CU was unable to compete in full Friday at Liberty.

Concord opens the 2026 portion of the indoor season back at Liberty January 23-24.
