HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Concord University men's track & field team sported season-best and career-best performances at the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point at Dick Vert Stadium Friday and Saturday.
The top finishers for CU came in the 5,000-meter run as senior
Logan Zuchelli scored a fourth-place finish in a time of 15:05.93. Sophomore
Braden Ward was 11
th in 15:49.52. Junior
Alex Irvin came through in 15:56.04 as he finished 14
th. And freshman
Brandon Canaday placed 15
th in a time of 15:58.62.
Concord had two athletes in the top 10 of the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Sophomore
Andrew Tickle was eighth in a time of 9:52.16. Fellow sophomore
AJ Skeens finished ninth after running 9:59.95. Both ran career-best times.
Senior
Ian Gardner took over the Mountain East Conference's top spot in the 400-meter dash as he clocked 48.72 seconds, finishing eighth. Freshman
Brady Prior sprinted 49.88 seconds, a season-best time, as he finished 18
th.
In the 800-meter run, senior
Ethan Board was eighth in the invitational heat as he crossed in 2:02.50. The fastest 800-meter time for CU came in a lower heat from freshman
Reese Hickey as he clocked a personal-best time of 1:59.05.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Board, Gardner, Prior and freshman
Aaron Miller clocked a season-best time of 3:19.59 as they placed eighth.
In the high jump, freshmen
Tobi Adebulu and
Luke Davis both cleared 1.75 meters in the high jump as they finished in the top 20 with personal-best jumps.
Davis was 18
th in the 110-meter hurdles in a showing of 16.31 seconds.
CU hosts its home invitational Friday at Callaghan Stadium.
