MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Concord University women's track & field team had impressive showings in the first outdoor meet of the season at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge Friday at Doug Shaw Stadium.
The meet was reduced to one day as Saturday's events were canceled as the result of severe weather.
On Friday night, Concord placed four inside the top six of the 10,000-meter run.
Junior
Madison Cornett was the winner in a personal-record time of 39:22.44. Meanwhile, sophomore
Katy Walkup was the runner-up in a time of 40:56.92. Sophomore
Emma Londeree clocked 43:44.67 to place fifth, and freshman
Sara Turner ran 45:49.32 in her 10,000-meter debut, good enough for sixth.
Graduate student
Emily Wallace was the winner in the 5,000-meter run as as stopped the clock at 17:54.63.

Izzy Williams placed fifth with a time of 1:52.42.

Abdussalaam led Concord in the field events. She marked 10.10 meters in the triple jump to place sixth, and was ninth in the long jump with a leap of 4.71 meters. Sophomore
Lilly Jackson hit 4.63 meters in the long jump to secure 11
th.
Freshman
Meagan Poticher was 23
rd in the javelin throw with a toss of 22.93 meters.
In the sprints, Williams stopped the clock at 12.43 seconds in the 100-meter dash. Parker came through in 13.40 seconds and junior
Kylea Pollinger ran 13.80 seconds.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Abdussalaam placed 15
th in a showing of 17.35 seconds. Senior
Taylor Perry was 21
st (19.55 seconds) and junior
Shyanna James finished 22
nd (20.47 seconds).
Concord travels to Charlotte's 49er Classic March 14-16.
