HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Concord University women's track & field team had its final chance to meet qualifying marks for the upcoming Mountain East Conference Championships, scheduled for next weekend, as they were in action at the Marshall Invite at the Chris Cline Athletic Complex.
Several top performances headlined the action as junior
Madison Cornett (10:59.00) and sophomore
Katy Walkup (10:59.37) ran hip-to-hip in the 3,000-meter run. In the process, they solidified their spot in the event at the MEC Championship as they sit 15
th and 16
th in the conference. They finished 13
th and 14
th at Marshall.
Sophomore
Emma Londeree had a personal-record time in the 5,000-meter run as she came through in 20:48.04, good enough for eighth. Freshman
Sara Turner followed in ninth with a time of 21:57.82 and fellow freshman
Piper Doughton stopped the clock at 21:58.82 to take the final spot in the top 10.
Notable field event results were freshman
Nadiyah Abdussalaam clearing 2.60 meters in the pole vault to place sixth while graduate student
Abbey Wallace hit 9.74 meters in the shot put to finish 19
th.
Concord's 4x400-meter relay of junior
Alexis Anzevino, freshman
Hayley Collins, junior
Kaylee Dixon and sophomore
Emma Jenkins secured a spot in the top 10 by running 4:48.92, finishing 10
th.
In the mile run, Jenkins sported a time of 5:42.18 which was 14
th while sophomore
Colette Lindley came through in 6:12.54 to place 19
th.
CU returns to the campus of Marshall of the MEC Championships beginning February 16.
