ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team opens up the Mountain East Conference Tournament in the quarterfinal round at Fairmont State 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Duvall-Rosier Field.

THE TOP OFFENSE
By scoring five goals in Wednesday's shutout win over Glenville State, the Mountain Lions secured the MEC's top scoring offense in the regular season for the fifth time since 2018 as they buried 64 goals. It also the sixth most goals in program history for a single season and ranks second in Division II for 2024. Senior forward
Sydney Tucker was the individual regular-season scoring champion in the MEC as she netted 16 goals which is also tied for fourth in NCAA Division II. Tucker was also the top player in points as she recorded 36. Freshman midfielder
Marika Svensson was tied for the top scorer among freshmen as she finished the regular season with 10 goals—West Virginia State's Sara Paris Filter also had 10 goas in her first season. And senior defender
Leah Fleming was the MEC's top-scoring defender, netting eight goals.
REVENGE ON THE MIND
CU dropped a 2-1 decision at Fairmont State at the beginning of October. Junior forward
Caitlin Webster netted Concord's goal in the 32
nd minute. And for the game, the Maroon and Gray outshot FSU, 14-9. The Fighting Falcons netted the game-winning goal in the 50

Ailsa Swinburne led CU in shots with four while Webster tallied three. Freshman goalkeeper
Gabby Griffith made five saves in the contest. The Mountain Lions are seeking their first win at Fairmont State since 2019, having lost this year and in 2022. All three wins for FSU in the all-time series have come at home.
MEET ME IN THE TOURNAMENT
Sunday's game will be the third time since 2019 that Concord and Fairmont State face each other in the MEC Tournament. CU has won each of the previous two—in the 2019 MEC Championship and in the 2021 MEC Semifinals. The game three years ago featured a goal in the 88
th minute as the Mountain Lions outshot FSU, 14-6. And both of Concord's goals in the 2019 championship game came in the final 26 minutes. Concord is seeking to reach its seventh MEC Semifinal since 2017. Meanwhile, Fairmont State is seeking a similar trend by advancing to its fifth conference semifinal since 2019.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING FALCONS
Fairmont State has been substantially better at home this season, going 7-1-1 at Duvall-Rosier Field as opposed to 4-5 on the road. The lone home defeat was in FSU's regular-season finale versus Frostburg State, 1-0. Serenity Thomas is the only Fairmont State player with more than four goals this season as she has struck for 10 goals. Ashley Rainho scored one of her two goals versus CU to open the scoring in October before Sam Yuen (four goals) tallied the game winner. Olivia Johnston has started all 18 games in goal for the Fighting Falcons, making 49 saves and recording a 0.97 goals-against average.
