Concord Places Fourth at Golden Eagle Invite

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University women's track & field finished fourth at the Golden Eagle Invite Saturday at Laidley Field.

The Mountain Lions posted 39 points while UC won the meet with 242 points.

Concord had multiple point-scorers in the 200-meter dash. Freshman Talayna Holmes finished third in a time of 25.86 seconds. Freshman Savannah Cunningham secured the final scoring spot with an eighth-place showing as she sprinted 27.52 seconds.

Junior Ryann Davis (11th/28.59 seconds), sophomore Kylea Pollinger (12th/28.87 seconds) and freshman Lilly Jackson (13th/28.96 seconds) were in the top 15 of the 200-meters.
Three Mountain Lions were in the top eight of the 400-meter hurdles. Graduate student Josea Smith led the group with a runner-up finish in 1:11.63. Junior Taylor Perry posted 1:21.13 to place seventh and sophomore Shyanna James stopped the clock at 1:25.01, good enough for eighth.

Holmes was third in the 100-meter dash as she came through in 12.41 seconds. Pollinger claimed the final spot in the top 10 as she clocked 13.81 seconds.

In distance action, sophomore Madison Cornett ran 19:08.13 in the 5,000-meter run as she placed third.

Cunningham scored points in the 400-meter dash as she finished sixth in a time of 1:04.30. Jackson was ninth (1:08.55).

Jackson was CU's top field event finisher as she cleared 1.45 meters in the high jump to place sixth. Davis got over 1.25 meters as she finished ninth. In other field event action, Jackson marked 4.68 meters in the long jump to claim ninth. Davis was 12th in 4.35 meters.

Junior Shayla Short tossed 8.70 meters in the shot put as she placed 10th. Perry had a best throw of 8.54 meters to finish 11th.

In the 800-meter run, freshman Emma Londeree led a trio of Mountain Lions with a showing of 2:35.57, good enough for seventh. Sophomore Kaylee Dixon was 12th (2:47.36) while sophomore Baylee Bentley finished 13th (3:07.49).

Also this weekend, graduate student Hannah Altizer and senior Wallace competed at the Flames Invite at Lee University. Wallace doubled up in the 800-meter and 5,000-meter runs. Wallace ran 18:03.71 in the 5,000-meters as she ran the fastest time in the MEC this season. She came through 2:26.15, the 10th-fastest time in the conference this spring. Altizer posted 19:02.07 in the 5,000-meters, ninth best.
