ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's track & field team won the Concord Invite Friday night at Callaghan Stadium.

The Mountain Lions racked up 205 points as it bested Bluefield State by 35 points for the team win.

CU had seven individual event victories as freshman Talayna Holmes and freshman Lilly Jackson won two events each.

Holmes starred in the sprint events as she picked up a victory in the 100-meter dash (12.40 seconds) and later won the 200-meter dash in 25.80 seconds. Meanwhile, Jackson did her damage in the field events. She threw a personal-record 28.85 meters in the javelin throw as she moved into the top five in the conference with the mark. She tied for first in the high jump as she cleared 1.50 meters. Jackson also placed third in the long jump with a mark of 4.80 meters.

Graduate student Hannah Altizer ran the Mountain East Conference's fourth-fastest 800-meter time this spring as she crossed in 2:18.09 for the victory. Senior Emily Wallace ran 5:30.15 to win the 1,500-meter run. And freshman Katy Walkup completed the wins for Concord with a personal-record time of 19:14.38 in the 5,000-meter run, an improvement of 29 seconds from earlier in the season.

The Mountain Lions also picked up victories in both relays, the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter.

Graduate student Josea Smith was the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles as she stopped the timer at 1:10.72. Senior Jerell Strachan was second in both the 100-meters (13.12 seconds) and 200-meters (26.18 seconds) as she was the runner-up to Holmes.

Sophomore Erin O'Sullivan was the runner-up in the 1,500-meters (5:30.59) while senior Gretchen Mills was fourth in a time of 6:05.84.

Wallace (second/2:22.07), freshman Savannah Cunningham (third/2:32.43), sophomore Kaylee Dixon (fifth/2:40.21), freshman Emma Londeree (sixth/2:46.79) and sophomore Baylee Bentley (seventh/3:05.41) all scored points in the 800-meters.

Sophomore Kylea Pollinger (28.67 seconds) was sixth in the 200-meters. Junior Taylor Perry (1:21.22) and sophomore Shyanna James (1:21.86) were sixth and seventh in the 400-meter hurdles.

Perry also scored points in the shot put with a mark of 8.07 meters, good enough for sixth. Junior Shayla Short threw 9.39 meters for fourth place.

Junior Ryann Davis was top eight in both the long jump (fifth/4.64 meters) and high jump (eighth/1.31 meters). Senior Alaina Mills tossed 26.83 meters in the javelin to place fifth.

Graduate student Jasmine Abrell (sixth/25.23 meters) and Short (eighth/20.82 meters) in the discus rounded the top performances for Concord.
