MARIETTA, Ohio – The Concord University women's track & field team opened the season at the Marietta First Glimpse Friday at the Dyson Baudo Center.
The Mountain Lions picked up three individual wins on the day.
Freshman
Izzy Williams won the both the 55-meter dash (7.41 seconds) and 200-meter dash (26.44 seconds). Sophomore
Emma Jenkins was the other CU winner as she crossed first in the mile in a time of 5:48.83.
Freshman
Marin Parker joined Williams in the top eight of the sprint events. Parker clocked 27.70 seconds in the 200-meters to place fifth. Parker followed it up with a 7.85-second showing in the finals of the 55-meters, good enough for eighth.
Sophomore
Lilly Jackson was the runner-up in the long jump as she marked 4.88 meters. She was also sixth in the high jump (1.45 meters).
In other field event action, graduate student
Abbey Wallace was seventh in the shot put (9.89 meters) and ninth in the weight throw (9.36 meters). Freshman
Nadiyah Abdussalaam was sixth in the triple jump as she marked 10.06 meters.
Concord's 4x400-meter relay of Abdussalaam, Jackson, Parker and Williams combined for 4:33.276 to finish third.
Abdussaalam clocked 9.28 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles to place sixth. And Jenkins ran 2:38.57 in the 800-meters to finish fifth.
The Mountain Lions in action next weekend, December 8-9, at Roanoke College.
