CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's golf team placed 11
th at the University of Charleston Invite that wrapped up Tuesday afternoon at Edgewood Country Club.
CU combined for a team score of 306 during Monday's first round, and was three strokes better on Tuesday for a score of 609 over 36 holes.
Junior
Cole Higgins shot a one-over 72 on Monday and carded a 74 during the second round to finish in a tie for 20
th at 146. Higgins had three birdies each round. He birdied the par-5, 510-yard fifth hole both days. He converted a birdie on the par-5, 18
th hole Monday and knocked in a birdie on the par-4, 390-yard first hole Tuesday.
After a non-birdie round of 77 Monday, freshman
David Gibb put three birdies on his scorecard Tuesday afternoon as part of his 72. His score of 149 was tied for 35
th. Gibb carded a three on the first hole as well as a three on the par-4, 429-yard 11
th. He added a second birdie on the back nine at the par-5, 532-yard 16
th.
Senior
Michael Growe Jr. had rounds of 80 and 77 as he tied for 68
th. Sophomore
Indiana Eades had a total of 158 (78, 80). And senior
Carson Proffitt was one shot back of Eades after scores of 79 and 80. Proffitt did have the most birdies of any CU golfer with seven over 36 holes.
Freshman
Zan Hill made his collegiate debut with rounds of 81 and 80.
There was a tie atop both the individual and team leaderboards. West Liberty's Alex Easthom and Charleston's Paul Sanchez were three-under for the tournament.
Glenville State and Indiana (Pa.) both scored 571 as they shared the team title.
Concord tees off at the Mercyhurst Invite Friday at Lake View County Club in Erie, Pennsylvania.
