Concord Places Seventh at Appalachian Collegiate

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Concord University men's golf team finished seventh at the Appalachian Collegiate at the Blacksburg Country Club Monday and Tuesday.
 
Golfers played 36 holes Monday before coming back with 18 holes Tuesday.
 
The Mountain Lions had rounds of 323, 321 and 314 for a 54-hole team score of 958.
 
Freshman Jeremy Nguyen was consistent in scoring 235 for the tournament. He posted rounds of 78, 78 and 79. Nguyen tied for 26th and was just six strokes out of the top 15. Additionally, he rolled in -0=six birdies for the tournament, including three on the front nine during the final round. Nguyen started and finished the front nine with red numbers on a pair of par 4s. He added a birdie on the par-5, fifth.
 
Freshman Henry Lewis was three strokes back of Nguyen as he tied for 32nd. He steadily improved each round, going from 82 to 80 to 76.
 
Freshman Dylan Canterbury shot 244 for the tournament with a best score of 78 during the final round. Freshman Jackson Williams was two strokes better as he had scores of 79, 86 and 81. Sophomore Jonah Willson tied for 40th at 246.
 
Playing as an individual, freshman Shih-Chieh Cheng eagled the par-5, second hole during the second round.
 
David Razinskas of Pitt-Johnstown was the individual medalist for the tournament with a score of 217. UPJ was the team champion with a three-round of 891.  
 
CU wraps up the spring season at the Mountain East Conference Spring Classic April 6-7 at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.
