BLUEFIELD, Va. – The Concord University men's golf team placed 16
th at the Bluefield State Invite that was contested Monday and Tuesday at Fincastle Country Club.
With the 54-hole tournament, CU scored 328, 338 and 327 for a team score of 993.
Freshman
Henry Lewis was Concord's top finisher, tying for 14
th. Lewis carded a score of 222 (76, 76, 70). Lewis' round of 70 to close the tournament was the lowest score of the fall for any Concord golfer. After shooting +1, 36 on the front nine, Lewis struck for a -1, 34 on the back nine. The Oakland, Maryland native carded four birdies in the final round with three coming on par-5s. He also birdied the par-3, 186-yard eighth. He had a total of six birdies in the tournament.
Freshman
Jackson Williams tied for 35
th after a three-day total of 233. After scores of 81 and 78, Williams finished strong with a 74 during the final round. He had a birdie, two on the par-3, 147-yard 10
th as well as the par-5, 497-yard 17
th in the third round.
Freshman
Shih-Chieh Cheng finished with a total of 255 (85, 82, 88). Junior
Owen Jackson tallied a 54-hole score of 289.
Bluefield State won the team tournament by 25 strokes (859-884) over West Liberty. Glenville State's Hector Arriaga was the individual winner with a 54-hole score of even-par score of 210 (75, 69, 66).
Tuesday wrapped up the fall season for the Mountain Lions.
