Fitzwater Signs Pro Contract in Netherlands

ATHENS, W.Va. – Fifth-year senior forward Riley Fitzwater of the Concord University women's basketball team has signed a professional contract to continue her playing career in the Netherlands next season.

Fitzwater inked a contract with BC Triple Threat which is located in Haarlem, Netherlands. BC Triple Threat plays in the top division of the Women's Basketball League (WBL). During the 2022-23 season, the league will be made up of 10 teams.

This season, BC Triple Threat has posted a record of 3-16, and the lone American on this year's roster is Tosh Leavitt who is a 2019 graduate of Texas State.

Fitzwater becomes the first Concord women's basketball player to sign a professional contract once exhausting eligibility in the Maroon and Gray.

Fitzwater leaves CU as the program's all-time leader in scoring (2,077), rebounding (1,557), field-goal percentage (68.8) and blocked shots (533). She was a two-time All-American (2021, 2022). At the conclusion of this past winter's season, Fitzwater set the all-time NCAA Division II career mark for field-goal percentage at 68.8 (899-for-1,306). The Glenville, West Virginia native was part of 86 career wins at Concord.

The city of Haarlem is located less than 15 miles from Amsterdam. BC Triple Threat begins its 2022-23 season in late September. BC Triple Threat has only been playing in the WBL since the start of the 2020-21 season.
