Concord Finishes Fourth at Golden Eagle Invite

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's track & field team placed fourth at the Golden Eagle Invite Saturday afternoon at Laidley Field.
 
CU totaled 80 points. Charleston was the team winner with 228 points.
 
The Mountain Lions picked up two event wins. Senior Issac Prather crossed first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:04.80. Earlier in the meet, fifth-year senior Marcus Wilson was first in the 400-meter hurdles as he finished in a time of 55.23 seconds.
 
Concord also picked up points in the steeplechase from freshman Logan Zuchelli as he placed second (9:49.84). Sophomore Caleb Hatcher crossed fourth in a time of 10:28.58. Fifth-year senior Andrew Barbera ran to a time of 11:37.29 to finish sixth.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Ethan Board, freshman Ian Gardner, junior Alex Watty and Wilson were the runners-up with a time of 3:25.78.
 
Individually, Gardner and Watty had strong showings in their individual events. Gardner sprinted to a time of 50.24 seconds in the 400-meter dash as he placed. Watty was fifth in the 800-meter run (2:01.56) and 13th in the 400-meters (53.32 seconds).
 
Freshman Michael Kwayke crossed 15th in the 400-meters (55.23 seconds). Sophomore Isaiah Jackson-Darby was 14th in the 800-meters (2:07.25) while freshman Zach Wilson was just behind in 2:07.65 to place 15th.
 
Sophomore Preston Prather was fifth in the 5,000-meter run as he timed 14:54.94. Senior Cedric Drennen was two spots back as he came through in 15:06.08. Fifth-year senior Samuel Haynes raced to a showing of 15:36.72 as he finished 12th.
 
Fifth-year senior JT Turner tossed 13.38 meters in the shot put to place fourth. He was 11th in the hammer throw with a mark of 32.09 meters.
 
Other top performances included freshman Terryn Patterson-Bryant clocking 10.87 seconds in the 100-meter dash and senior Hunter Thomas sprinted 11.32 seconds to finish 15th.
 
Board was 13th in the 1,500-meter run (4:17.52) and freshman Jonny Sweeney placed 14th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.44).
 
The Mountain Lions host the Concord Invite Friday afternoon at Callaghan Stadium.
