WHEELING, W.Va. – The Concord University softball team led Wheeling 9-2 with one out in the bottom of the fourth before the game was suspended due to the field becoming unplayable from bad weather.

The doubleheader will resume being played at the CU Softball Field Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Wheeling will be scored as the home team in game two as well.

CU plated four runs in the top of the first inning with freshman shortstop/utility player Courtney Raines and junior catcher/outfielder Jolie Privett recording one RBI each. The biggest blow of the inning was a two-run home run from freshman first baseman/outfielder Kassidy Garvey. The blast was Garvey's first of her career.

Concord followed up its four-run first inning by scoring five more in the top of the second. Raines scored two runs on a single to center field, then later came around to score. Privett reached on an error and came around to score. Senior third baseman/outfielder Sarah Thompson tallied an RBI in the inning.

At the plate, Raines currently has two hits and three RBI in the game.

Freshman pitcher/infielder Rachael Koller has two strikeouts in 3.1 innings so far in the pitching circle.

Wheeling scored two runs and had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the fourth when the game was officially suspended.

Game two Wednesday in Athens will be 30 minutes after the completion of the first game.
