CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's golf team was seventh at the Mountain East Conference Spring Classic that concluded Tuesday afternoon at Berry Hills Country Club.
CU had rounds of 330 and 312 as a team to tally a total of 642.
Fifth-year senior
Brett Laxton rebounded from an opening round 79 to score 74 on Tuesday afternoon and finish in tie for 11
th with a total of 153. The Pineville, West Virginia native moved up 15 places from the first to second round. Laxton birdied the par-5, 490-yard fifth hole and the par-4, 386-yard 10
th hole. Â
Senior
Noah Clark shot 82 in the opening round, but came back with a 78 in Tuesday's second round. He tied for 30
th at 160. The highlight of Clark's final round was an eagle on the par-5, fourth. He also scored a three on the par-4, 353-yard 16
th. Paced by his eagle on Tuesday, Clark finished under par on the par 5s for the tournament.
Sophomore
Grant Rosenbaum tied for 45
th carding 89 on Monday, but shooting 79 on Tuesday to tie for 45
th at 168. Freshman
Grayson Murray also tied for 45
th (81, 87). Rosenbaum had two birdied with a three on the par-4, 345-yard sixth and rolled a putt in on the par-3, 222-yard 18
th.
Junior
Carson Proffitt was one shot back of Murray and Rosenbaum as he tied for 49
th (88, 81). Proffitt birdied the par-3, 178-yard third and the par-4 16
th Tuesday afternoon. He added a four on the par-5, 510-yard ninth Monday.
Playing as an individual, junior
Colin Wiley was tied for 38
th (83, 82). Wiley birdied the par-5, 515-yard 13
th in the final round.
West Liberty, Davis & Elkins and Charleston were separated by two strokes with WLU winning the team title at 606. West Liberty's Alex Easthom was the individual medalist over Charleston's Tyler Patterson by two strokes (141-143).
Concord travels to Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia Monday and Tuesday for the West Liberty Invite.
