Nguyen, Williams Earn All-MEC Honorable Mention

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The freshmen pair of Jeremy Nguyen and Jackson Williams of the Concord University men's golf team have been selected All-Mountain East Conference Honorable Mention, the league office announced Wednesday evening with the conclusion of the MEC Spring Classic.

The awards were determined by individual performances during five MEC-sponsored rounds of golf, three of which occurred during the fall season's MEC Championship at the Cobb Course at the Resort at Glade Springs, combined with the two-day event at Oglebay Resort Tuesday and Wednesday in Wheeling.

Nguyen, a native of Richmond, Texas, averaged 76.8 during five rounds of MEC competition. He carded back-to-back rounds of 76 at the MEC Championships in October, and matched a career best with a 73 during the final round of the MEC Spring Classic. Nguyen was CU's highest finisher at the MEC Championship by tying for 15th in the fall.  

Williams averaged 76.0 during the five rounds of MEC play. The Crow, West Virginia native started the MEC Tournament with rounds of 75 and 77 in October. His two rounds at the MEC Spring Classic were the best two of his young collegiate career as he ripped of a career-best 71 Tuesday and came back with a 73 Wednesday afternoon. Williams was in the top 25 in both conference events, including a tie for 10th at the MEC Spring Classic.

Nguyen and Williams are Concord's first two all-conference men's golfers since the 2021-22 season.
Pau Sanchez of Charleston was the MEC Player of the Year. Point Park's Milo Thim earned MEC Freshman of the Year, and Charleston head coach Will Johnson was named MEC Coach of the Year.
