WARREN, Ohio – The Concord University women's golf team is sixth after the first round of the Mountain East Conference Tournament at Avalon Lakes Golf & Country Club.
The Mountain Lions put together a team score of 373.
CU was led by fifth-year senior
Melinda Goda who shot a first-round 80 and is tied for third. After a five-over start through five holes, Goda strung together four consecutive pars to finish the back nine. She parred the second and third holes before a birdie on the par-4, 300-yard fifth.
Sophomore
Mary Denny is tied for 23
rd after an opening round of 92. Freshman
Anna Fry shot a 98 on Monday and is 31
st.
Senior
Taylor Bohan and freshman
Josie Montgomery are both tied for 33
rd after scoring 103.
Charleston's Iciar Canalejo is the 18-hole leader after shooting 75.
Glenville State is the team leader with an opening round 325, 11 strokes better than Charleston.
The three-day tournament continues Tuesday with the second round.
